Summer is just around the corner, and now is the time to start registering for camps! Camps fill up quickly so it is best to begin the registration process early. There are a variety of summer camps available for children of all ages, ability levels and interests. This is a great opportunity for your child to learn a new skill, socialize with other children and participate in new and fun activities outside of their daily routine.
Don’t let the cost of camp prevent you from enrolling your child. If your child is enrolled in DDA contact your Case Manager to get assistance paying for camp. Many camps accept DDA funds. If there is no indication that DDA funds are accepted, and you find a camp you are interested in for your child call the camp to get more information about financial options. Another option is Ben’s Fund. If you haven’t already applied for Ben’s Fund this year, you can apply for a grant up to $1,000 to help off-set the cost of camp. Approval can take 1-3 months so it is recommended to apply as soon as possible. For more information about Ben’s Fund and the application process, you can visit the FEAT of WA website at: www.featwa.org Additionally, several camps offer scholarships. These tend to be awarded on a first come first serve basis. Contact the camp coordinator as soon as possible to find out more information about the potential of getting a scholarship.
